DKI Akan Bangun Sirkuit Motor

City to Build Motorcycle Circuit

Jakarta Provincial Government plans to build the first motorcycle circuit in the capital city. The idea of this plan comes from Vice Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama. Later, PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) will be involved.

Before starting the construction, first there will be study on the soil’s depth, contour, and density. For that, we’ll use expert consultant

“PT Jakpro has a land as wide as 50 hectares in Marunda, North Jakarta. But, only 15 hectares would be used (for the circuit’s construction project),” stated Basuki, at City Hall, Wednesday (8/6).

According to Head of Jakarta Sports and Youth Department, Ratiyono, PT Jakpro is involved because it is one of city-owned enterprises (BUMD). Thus, the realization can be done fast with design-build system with capital covered by PT Jakpro.

“Mr. Vice Governor has directed for cooperation with PT Jakpro. With PT Jakpro, we can build the circuit quickly. Besides, the company has money, while Jakarta Provincial Government’s involvement is only in terms of capital shares,” he explained.

Ratiyono also told that the circuit’s construction would only take eight months of time with budget around Rp 50-100 billion for the circuit’s tracks. If the land is available, a survey will be conducted.

“Mr. Vice Governor instructed to make a standard circuit, not a minimalist one. So, approximately 15 hectares of land is needed. And before starting the construction, first there will be study on the soil’s depth, contour, and density. For that, we’ll use expert consultant,” he uttered.

For information, the construction of this circuit is also on behalf of the request of Indonesian Motor Association (IMI).

“IMI filed for proposal to build a circuit, they tell us its standard design. So, the government prepares it,” disclosed Ratiyono.
